Scared I am going to bleed to death

I am 39 years old. I have a daughter who is going to be turning 10 next month. I had to have a abortion about 18 months ago unfortunately. I am under an extreme amount of stress. In August of 2006 while working as a bank teller all of a sudden I feel a warm feeling on my leg. Blood was dripping like I had been shot. I went to emergency. I was amazed that I could go thru 5 super tampons withing a half hour. I had huge blood clots. I swear one was the size of a tangerine. Yuck. When the doctor got done with the examination and tests. I was told I was low on iron and to take a suppliment that is it. Well that period lasted like 42 to 45 days. I have had three or four periods like that since then. I am now on my third week of my period. the first two weeks were pretty normal but the last week when I remove my 5th or 6th tampon in the hour it's like a flood afterward. Will it ever stop? I have no insurance, my daughter lives with my inlaws because I am homeless due to my husbands incarceration. I had to quit working at the bank because my period just wouldn't stop and I couldn't work with that condition. I am too young to be headed toward menapause, aren't I? I wish this would go away. Am I feeling so weak because of all the blood loss? Would I be better off sticking strictly with pads? please help
